Builders Resume...
I first became interested in construction in high school where I took four years of construction classes. In my Senior year, I were able to apply what I had previously learned on the construction of a house. I value that as a great learning experience.
At that same point in my life, my father began building houses. I worked for him doing odd jobs during the summer before leaving for college. I graduated from Linfield College, in McMinville, in 1993. I graduated with a double major in Business and Computer Sciences. I chose these majors knowing they would be helpful to me in the future. While at Linfield, I participated in both football and baseball, and was also a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity.
During the summer months I continued working for my father. Eventually he advised me to form my own company. Shortly after graduation, I began the process of forming my own company, Ed Netter Construction. In May 1995, I incorporated under the name of Ed Netter Construction, Inc. For the first year, I worked primarily with my father, later branching out to work miscellaneous jobs with other local home builders.
The first house I built was a custom design for a good friend in 1993. In addition to my father, I also have a private investor whom I have worked with for several years. In 1998 we built six houses together, followed by nine houses and four duplexes the following year.
Local Realtor truly is 'on e-of-a-kind'...
They just "broke ground" on our bare lot today to begin building our new home. I would like to give credit to Mr. Ed Netter for making it possible.
It's been six months since I put the down payment on my property. It has been a nightmare of lessons learned - including denied loan requests, competition between big land developers and floor plan design problems, just to name a few.
I hope this letter will encourage anyone else who has been struggling to make their long-imagined dream of a new home happen. Take heart - it is possible, if you follow a few guidelines. You must: 1)have your goal clearly in mind; 2)be persistent, yet patient; 3)keep your sense of humor and 4) do your homework. Most importantly, shop around until you find a builder with heart.
I found that the day I met Ed Netter. After months of frustration and feelings of desperation, here was a young man who listened to me and took the time to understand my situation. He put effort into giving me important information, helpful advice and kept me informed of important deadlines and progress.
He trusted my commitment, and me, when no one else would. Just when I was on the edge of giving up, he put me in touch with the man who was able to approve my loan. Ed has gone far beyond his expectations, as a builder in order to help us achieve our dream.
Now that our house is beginning to take shape, we are excited and thrilled about it. I give credit to the young man with the "ever ready" smile. He always willingly answers any questions of the next necessary step to take. He is polite and sensitive.
One day I commented to him that I'm pretty ignorant about all of this. He just smiled and replied; "No, not ignorant - just uneducated in this area." I have complete trust and faith in his advise and suggestions. He make us feel like he thinks of us as more than just clients.
I'm confident the rest of our house adventure is going to be fun and exciting. It's a wonderful feeling, after the stress and tension involved in getting to this point.
I don't know if things happen this way in the big cities and towns. Maybe. But, it gives me comfort to know that here in Canby - our town - some of the people who are helping the town to grow are also actively participating in the "small town" feeling of generosity and support.
At the risk of embarrassing him completely, I believe people like Ed Netter are the heart of our community.
Thank you, Ed. You are much appreciated.
